But all these tough complications can be kept at bay with the beautiful Bhrigu Lake Trek in the upper Kullu Valley based in the eastern side of the famous Rohtang pass in Himachal Pradesh. This is ideal weekend hiking trip promises loads of entertainment for both beginners as well as experienced hikers. The scenic Bhrigu lake has significant historical and religious implications. As per informations provided by the locals, there is an association of the Lake to Sage Bhrig since the pious soul is known to have performed strong meditation and rituals in the banks of the lake hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Even the locals believe that many Gods of the Kullu valley have dipped in the holy waters of the lake making it sacred for the devotees. The location of Bhrigu Lake is about 6km from Gulaba which is a pictorial village about 22 kms from Manali.

Be it the unparallel breathtaking views of Seven Sister Peaks or Deo Tibba and Hanuman Tibba, the outstretched Pir Panjal ranges, the rich line of oak and cedar forests, fascinating green lush meadows, enthralling carpeted alpine flooring or the gushing streams along the meandering trails, the scenic vistas of the region is absolutely captivating which also makes the trekking experience overwhelming. With good luck one can also rejoice the sight of Himalayan Monal, Snow Cocks and the beautiful pheasants.

BEST SEASON TO VISIT


Starting from Mid May, till the month of October, trekking to Bhrigu Lake is allowed and travelers can plan accordingly. However the ideal time is before the month of June and after August since this is the monsoon time and there remains the probability of landslides in the region. It must also be noted that the temperature of this place during summers hovers around 20-25C in the daytime and falls to 5-7C at night. In winter the temperature gets lower with 10-15C around daytime and nearly 0 to -7C at night. Almost half a year the lake remains frozen, and travelers can enjoy the sight of snow even during the early summer time.

DAY 1 DRIVE FROM MANALI TO GULABA 20 KM 1 HOUR AND TREK FROM GULABA TO THATCH 3 KM 1 HOUR 8850 FT (2700 MT).

Starting from manali, our trek leader will meet at Government Bus Stand near mall road at 10:30 AM. We have already booked cabs from manali to gulaba. Gulaba is the starting point of the trek which is situated at the height of 8850 ft (2700 mt).we plan to reach gulaba (14 mod name of place) by 11:30 AM. After combined briefing we will start our trek to THATCH (a flat grass land in local language) which is 3 km easy trek and take 1 hour to our first camp site. View of solang valley makes this campsite beautiful, the source of water makes it ideal campsite for camping.

DAY 2 TREK FROM THATCH TO ROLA KHOLI 6 KM 4 HOUR 12400 FT (3800 MT)

Second day we start at 6:30 AM with morning exercise, tea and stretching. After breakfast we will start our trek to rola kholi at 9:00 am. Initially trail is steep till 2km on lush green meadows and you can witness the season flower in the monsoon month of july, august. The trail has some beautiful views of mighty Himalayas and Wild Horses.

Generally it takes 4 hour to reach Rola Kholi camp site which is situated at 12500 ft (3800 mt). Rola kholi has some clear views of famous peaks like Hanuman Tibba, Freindship Peak and Ladakhi peaks along with other Dhauladhar Range. A Glaciel River and rocky mountains makes it a beautiful camp site.

DAY 3 TREK FROM ROLA KHOLI TO BHRIGU LAKE 4KM, 4 HOUR, 13400 FT (3090 MT) AND BACK TO ROLA KHOLI CAMP 4 KM, 3 HOUR.

Trek to Bhrigu lake is a moderate to difficult because trail is a bit steep and long. So we start the day early at 6:00 AM and do some exercise. After early breakfast we start our trek to Bhrigu lake which is situated at the height of 13400 ft. Trail is steep till Bhrigu lake. Last stretch is a bit difficult because of the boulders on the way so need to be carefull on shoe grip to Bhrigu lake.


Reach to the Bhrigu lake makes it worth. If weather allow us we can climb the Bhrigu top 14100 ft (4300 mt) also for marvelous view of hampta valley. After spending some time or lunch break we start descend to our base at Rola kholi and will there reach by 05:00 PM and will have some hot Snacks at camp.

DAY 4 TREK DOWN FROM ROLA KHOLI TO GULABA 9 KM 3 HOUR AND DRIVE TO MANALI 20 KM 1 HOUR.

Last day is going to be easier as compare to previous day because we need to descend the whole trek till gulaba from 12400 ft to 8850 ft. Same we organize exercise and stretching session in morning. After Breakfast will trek down will have break for lunch at thatch and reach gulaba by 2 PM then Drive to Manali in pre booked cabs.

1 - The package includes all meals start from day 1 Lunch end on day 4 lunch (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and snacks throughout the trek. Meals would be wholesome, delicious and abundant.
2 - Accommodation in tents on twin or triple-sharing basis.
3 - Entry fees, permit to trek and forest camping charges in the region for the entire duration of the trek, wherever applicable.
4 - Needless to say, we’ll provide you with sleeping bags, mattresses, tents and other safety equipment required.
5 - We’ll have an English-speaking guides and a team of porters / mules to carry common group equipment.
6 - A trained cook along with helper/ requisite staff.
